Where Harmonie Orientale Began
What started as a single family kitchen has grown into a name LaSalle trusts, without ever losing the values it began with. Here is how that journey unfolded, one generation at a time.
The Beginning
A Small Family Kitchen on Dollard Avenue
Harmonie Orientale started as a small family kitchen on Dollard Avenue, built on one simple idea: LaSalle deserved a Chinese restaurant that cooked the way a real family cooks at home. No shortcuts, no pre-made sauces, just fresh ingredients and recipes passed down with care.

What began as a modest storefront grew into a trusted name in the neighbourhood. Longtime residents have watched us grow, and many have been ordering from us since the very first year we opened our doors.

Every dish traces back to a recipe cooked in our own family home long before it ever reached a restaurant kitchen. Our General Tao sauce, our Szechuan spice blend and our dumpling filling are not restaurant inventions, they are family recipes, refined over years and kept exactly the way they have always been made.
We believe LaSalle deserves food that tastes like it was made by someone who cares, not food built to be fast and forgettable. That is why we still do things the slower, more traditional way, even when it takes more time.

Our Cooking Philosophy
Real Szechuan flavour is about balance, not heat alone.
Szechuan cooking comes from layering numbing peppercorns, dried chilies, garlic and fermented bean paste in the right order, not simply pouring on spice. This is the standard we hold every dish to.
